The 12 Beers of Christmas: Day 11

On the 11th day of Christmas, Julia recommended to me…

Beer for Pizza from Off Color Brewing (Chicago, IL)

and

Home Alone (1990)!

As we approach the end of Beermas, it’s time for another iconic Christmas flick to pair with some totally cool brews! You can catch up on the past ten days of content here—any guesses for what movie will be finishing off our countdown? I’ll give you a hint: this year’s been a nightmare.

Beer for Pizza is a beer inspired by the flavors and fizz of a cola that comes in at 4.5% ABV. Brewed with Vienna and Crystal malts as well as Nugget hops, this beer has a dark candy syrup quality that is balanced out with the acidity and spice that comes from its “secret” ingredients. Such ingredients include orange zest, lime juice, nutmeg, cinnamon, and Kola nut. The Kola nut gives this beer a caffeinated zing to match its fizzy cola profile. If Kevin McCallister were 21, these brews would’ve gone perfect with his delivery pizza!

Home Alone is uncontroversially a fantastic holiday movie. Complete with an obnoxious and oversized family, a brilliantly engineered set of robber-deterring booby traps, a Midwestern polka band, a bumbling duo of criminals, and a pet tarantula, Home Alone leaves little to be desired in the way of antics and shenanigans. It is a must-rewatch this time of year!

Beer for Brunch is a Berliner-style Weisse brewed with orange and chardonnay grape juice. This 6.5% ABV beer was inspired by mimosas, a classic brunch cocktail. Beer for Brunch makes me miss an experience I’ve been mourning the loss of all throughout 2020: diner all-day breakfast. These brews will be perfect any time of day with syrup-soaked pancakes, crispy bacon, and a piping hot cup of coffee. The sharp fruity acidity is balanced by the Citra hops to create a delightfully drinkable beverage that’ll calm your nerves when you wake up and realize your entire family left for Paris without you!

Beer for Tacos is a 4.5% ABV Gose-style beer brewed with lime juice and salt to evoke all the tangy, refreshing flavors of a margarita. Bright, crisp, and tart, Beer for Tacos is too fun not to serve in a sugar-rimmed glass adorned with a festive party umbrella. Who says it needs to be summertime to enjoy a refreshing margarita? After you’re done salting your sidewalks like Old Man Marley, kick back with one of these brews and imagine you’re on a beach soaking up the sunshine!

Can’t find any Off Color Brewing in your area? Pick up something heavy enough that it’d knock the Wet Bandits on their backs if strategically swung towards them while they’re climbing a staircase! A hefty imperial stout should do the trick, or maybe a boozy bottled holiday ale.

Happy holidays ya filthy animals!

Sofia’s just as stealthy as those Wet Bandits and is constantly getting herself in a pickle on this beam at my parents’ house! She loves checking out the birds-eye view, but then meows until someone climbs up to rescue her since she’s too nervous to hop down from whence she came. Maybe she’s worried about booby traps!
